FORUM:UNG etc...

Yes, after wreaking HAVOK on the Café stage at Mejeriet for a couple of times/years, we are now booked for the Stora Scenen (Big Stage, where the big boys & girls play). The event is called FORUM: UNG, we're co-headlining with that old Ska band LIBERATOR. Crazy match, but we're a crazy bunch, heeh heeh. The event is focussed on the ages 13-25, så ta med era barn! Eller om ni är minderåriga, kom dit!

For the die hard fans: there is a MASSIVE possibility for us performing brand-new, unheard tracks from our next album (which won't be released for about a year or something). This time only! BE THERE!

On our upcoming album: it's more than halfway through the compositional stage. We're slowly arranging for the recording sessions. More on this later.

And oh, if anyone cares: bass player Andreas has joined the recently resurrected old-school death metal slaughter orchestra DERANGED.

Guitarists & futures

As some of you may have noticed, HAVOK has been a quartet the past few months. This brief interim has now ended, as we welcome back our old/new guitarist Miguel Cabrera.

After trying out some other guitarists, we were approached by Miguel, who left for South America two years ago, now willing to give it a shot. Being a founding member, and indeed the creator of plenty of HAVOK songs, we had little doubt about the propriety of his return.

After Miguel's re-inauguration this past Saturday at the Summer Slumber Feast @ Utkanten (maximum cheers to our overwhelmingly dedicated audience, and the other bands performing), HAVOK takes the aim at our immediate future. We are about half-way through the writing and arranging of our second album, and will commence pre-production in the coming month. More information will come when it is due, but expect a release date in about a year - that is, autumn 2010. In regards to the content, it will be a consummation of the intentions of Being & Nothingness. That is, more technical, more brutal, more dynamic, better production and far more intense.

"Too much is not enough!"

Oh, and another notice: some month ago, HAVOK was selected by a cultural organ controlled by the Swedish government (Cultural Department) to, well, receive tax-payers' money. That even a Metal band of any kind receives this kind of support is exceptional, even more so a Death Metal band. HAVOK are honoured and very humble that they found our creations worth their support. That anyone in the Death Metal underground should be subjected to the acceptance of one of the highest cultural organs in Sweden is amazing. Not an öre will be wasted.

...And then there were four.

Yesterday, 4/7, HAVOK parted ways with guitarist Simon Dahlberg. There is no need to get into details, but there is definitely no bad blood between the band and Simon; we are happy to have worked with him on Being & Nothingness and subsequent gigs. He's an excellent musician, and you've probably not seen the last of him.

This will not impeed with our performance at the Summer Slumber Feast at Utkanten, Malmö, on August 29.

Yours,

// The true HAVOK.

The BEAST has been UNLEASHED

Finally, D-day has arrived. Being And Nothingess is available for purchase all over the world. Follow the links below to your boutique of choice. (It will be available in bricks-and-mortar stores in time.)

Ginza (SWE) Skivlagret (SWE) Townsend Records (UK) Play (UK)
CDON (EU) Amazon (GER) Amazon (UK) Amazon (JAP) Amazon (US)

(UPDATED) A few disembodied voices regarding Being And Nothingness:
"Being And Nothingness is so perfect that I want to engage in ritual sex with all those involved in the production just to be closer to their essence."
-David Jannati/Close-Up Magazine

"At times it is easy to forget that this is their first album. Impressive."
-Calum Harvie/Zero Tolerance Magazine

"Varied, effective, professional and very brutal. Havok in a nutshell."
-Martijn van den Beukel/Zware Metalen

"Havok is the violent offspring of Dismember and Hate Eternal. The best are without a doubt the substantial semi-psychedelic, acoustic breakdowns that does not only generate a warm touch to Havok's creations and sets them apart from their genre-colleagues, but also makes Being And Nothingness feel fresh and innovative."
-Niklas Olausson/Metalcentral.net

"It literally blows most other modern death metal acts out of the water. They have, in “Being and Nothingness” produced extreme metal so textured that the only really comparable modern acts are erm...Textures and Gojira. This isn't some gnarly
old school death metal, for sure, but while it packs the brutality and technicality now common place in modern extreme metal, it also has a side order of intellectual engagement and progressive touches that lift them above the general run of
other bands."
-Chris Davison/Live 4 Metal

"This album is a highlight moment of the technical death metal, which offers almost everything that you love about this music."
-Johannes Schmuck/Metal.de

"No doubt that Havok already have got their own style."
-SupremeBrutality.net

"Very often daring to do something new is not being rewarded… But here something got created that might be enjoyed not just by death metal freaks but also by others. The reason for that is the creative richness of styles that makes this record so interesting and worth listening to. In short, HAVOK created something great."
-Firestorm/Bleeding4metal.de

"Take a listen to one of the more adventurous and original sounding acts out there!"
-The Underworld of Music

"Havok succeed with the help of beautiful melodies, melancholy, a couple of instrumental pieces and heavy riffs to make its deathmetal live, varied and very interesting. It's the songs, the thoughfulness and the ability to play fast, heavy, composed, beautiful and crazy and still make the pieces of the puzzle fall together and create the whole that Being And Nothingess has become. Just the fact that the album is over fifty minutes long and I don't loose my concentration or get bored even once, speaks for itself."
-Robert Ryttman/Zero Magazine

"On one hand, technical, moody and intellectual. On the other, brutality a'la Morbid Angel and wickedly cruel."
-Annica Hedbrant/Close-Up Magazine

"Innovation and dedication. Sincerity in harmony with breakneck dexterity. Free Music. These death-proggers are sensationally mature for being newcomers. The strengths are focus, lust of experiment and sensitivity. In addition, the band
writes good, deep lyrics."
-Andreas Rana/Sweden Rock Magazine

"A combination of brutality and melody that gives a very detailed description of Death Metal."
-Metal-Norge.com

"The destruction will be celebrated at the highest level."
-Hannes/HeavyHardes.de

"Inventiveness in delicious balance of brutality and technical brilliance carries the Lunda-quintet debut works to previously relatively unexplored trails, steep and breathtaking ruins where nobody is safe from this all-seeing rage."
-Sonny Jonasson/Close-Up Magazine

"The music is ingeniously engaging!"
-Jonn Jeppsson/Sydsvenskan

"If you like challenging, crushing heavy metal that relies on brains as much as brawn, then “Being and Nothingness” is an essential purchase for 2009!"
-Chris Davison/Live 4 Metal

News From The Front

We would like to thank all attendees and performers of Lundaslakt II for a unforgettable evening. (Of astronomical proportions you might say.)

As the meteor struck the cold soil of Skåne, so did we. As Andreas wrote for the live-section: "Approx. 235 individuals, ravaging moshpit, much commerce; highly successful." In conclusion, the show was a vast success. Seldom has Mejeriet seen such a enthusiastic turn up of metal heads as this night.

In other news: HAVOK will be featured among other things in Zero Tolerance Magazine, Close-Up Magazine and Sweden Rock Magazine this February/March. Be sure to get a hold of a copy and immerse yourself in pointless Havok trivia.

And last but not least, don't forget the impending release of Being And Nothingness! (And if you do download it, please consider buying it in support of the metal scene!)

MAJESTIC COMPLETION

So it has been done. The soon-to-be unravelled Being And Nothingness is complete. We have dedicated the last year to this beast; writing, re-writing, recording and re-recording. The first months of autumn we dedicated ourselves to Flatpig Studio and creating our debut album which by far is our greatest achievement. In November we mixed and mastered. Robban and Dejan at Flatpig gave this record their undivided attention and nursed this behemoth to life. Tailor Maid Mastering wrapped the the whole thing up in a brutal yet sophisticated package.

Being And Nothingness represents Havok's past, present and future. With more than a slight hint of Sarte's existentialism, we endeavoured down a path few have chosen. Combining elements of scholarly sophistication, nihilism and extreme metal we have modified and extended the limits of modern music.

Our dedicated listeners will notice that although some of the tracks have been heard before, Being And Nothingness is where they are done justice. Without the limits of the demo format, the songs where able to become what they where meant to be from the beginning. The complete re-recording of the previous Apathy Esplanade, the inclusion of the highly acclaimed and untouched World Shroud and the recording of three brand new blistering tracks - including the intro Avaye Penhan - this 53 minute beast will prove to the world that Havok is here to stay.

Being And Nothingness is bound to be released late January 2009 in the U.K and early February in the rest of the world.

Tracklist
1. Avaye Penhan
2. The Monsoon
3. A Pyrrhic Victory For Humanity
4. Iniquity
5. Paramount
6. Monologue With the Sky
7. Century of the Deviant
8. Stormfeed
9. The Ambulant Plague of Humans
10. Season of the Locust

Studio Report

The past weekend, Havok left the dungeons of Lund for the freezing cold crypts of Malmö and the Flatpig Studio. As of yesterday, 14 of September, all the drum tracks was finally completed and now we move on to the guitars and bass. Robban and Dejan from Flatpig are on the verge of making magic happen with this record!

There has been a few changes made regarding the album release. First of all, the album will be released early January 2009, not this October, and as Vici Solum already leaked it, it will be named "Being And Nothingness".

There's also two release party gigs being planned - one in Stockholm and one in Lund. More info and updates will come shortly.

WE CONQUER.

Regaining conciousness a week after our glorious return to the stage, the 6th of August can be summed up in one word: DOMINATION. Our deepest gratitude to all those who came and submitted themselves to our abuse. Extra cheers to DPOS! and Carnalist for support. HAVOK have returned to control and devour.

As it seems a previous post has disappeared, we'll go through it again. A month ago, we signed an album deal with Stockholm-based upstarts ViciSolum Productions, and we are (finally!) releasing our début album this coming autumn, October to be a bit more precise. It will contain new material to be recorded, as well as now sold-out old material, remixed and remastered beyond recognition. You will find it wherever you usually hunt for metal cds in the Western parts of civilisation. Expect nothing but top-notch, high quality progressive death metal slaughter, to the death. More detailed information on titles and track-list et c. as the summer fades away.

Marching for Victory and the Usurpation of the World!

After several months of inactivity and hiding under slimy stones in a nameless cave, HAVOK arise!
We have recruited a new full-time guitarist, welcoming to our realm Simon Dahlberg - you might recognize him from a handful of local acts, but now he has joined forces with us, to conquer and destroy. This fellow wields the guitar like a monster!
Following this recruitment, we have also scheduled our first gig for nearly a year - on Wednesday 6th of August, HAVOK return from the dead somewhere in Malmö. We will headline, and we will annihilate. We will also return in due time with further details concerning times and spaces, so keep alert...

There are also movements on other levels of HAVOK, but for the time being we keep a low profile... but be certain, shocking revelations are to be made soon.

And by the way, there are a few new reviews of Apathy Esplanade in the review sections, for those of you who has not yet understood that we completely rule.)
